About Us:

We are a premier destination offering a unique blend of camping and lodging experiences with over 400 RV and tent sites and 30 fully furnished rental homes. Our scenic property provides guests with a memorable stay that combines the beauty of nature next door to Badlands Off-Road Park. We're seeking a strategic, hands-on, and experienced Director to lead our dynamic operations team and elevate the guest experience to the next level.

Position Summary:

The Director of Campground and Lodging Operations is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, strategic oversight, and operational excellence of all aspects of the campground and lodging business. This role is critical in ensuring a safe, clean, welcoming, and profitable environment for guests and staff, while maintaining a high standard of hospitality and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Maintenance

• Oversee all campground and lodging operations including safety, cleanliness, functionality, aesthetics, and guest satisfaction.
• Ensure the daily maintenance of grounds, buildings, and facilities, while coordinating with the maintenance staff.
• Monitor and maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Staff Leadership & Development

• Recruit, train, schedule, and manage a team of front desk customer service reps, housekeeping, grounds, and maintenance staff.
• Foster a positive, service-oriented culture with a focus on accountability, professional development, and teamwork.
• Implement and oversee staff performance evaluations and corrective actions as needed.

Guest Services & Occupancy

• Maximize occupancy across camp spaces and rental homes through pricing strategies, marketing support, and exceptional guest service.
• Respond to guest feedback and implement service enhancements to ensure consistent five-star experiences.
• Maintain excellence in reservation management, check-in/check-out processes, and guest communication.
• Generate daily, weekly, and other periodic reports. Analyze data and collaborate with senior staff on findings.

Technology & Software Management

• Oversee the configuration and use of campground management software including the reservation system and housekeeping modules
• Manage the Point of Sale systems for the camp store and any additional sales outlets ensuring safe and accurate cash handling procedures
• Work with IT and third-party vendors to optimize software performance and staff training.

Retail & Camp Store Management

• Oversee camp store operations including inventory management, product selection, merchandising, and pricing strategies.
• Monitor POS system functionality and reporting to ensure profitable retail performance.

Strategic & Financial Management

• Work with ownership/upper management to create and execute business development initiatives, promotions, and events to drive revenue.
• Analyze financial reports and KPIs to drive data-informed decisions for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality, lodging, or campground management (multi-unit or large-scale experience preferred).
• Strong understanding of facilities management, safety compliance, and guest services.
• Proficiency in property management systems, POS systems, and business software tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and manage complex operations with high attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for outdoor hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred but not required).
